Clive D’Souza Featured in College of Engineering Campaign

Clive D’Souza has been identified as a faculty member who embodies the values that the College of Engineering is focusing on this semester.

Clive describes how creativity is integrated into engineering in the quote below:

“My research is in human factors engineering – the science of understanding humans at work. Successfully designing technology to match humans requires a scientific foundation as well as creativity. We, humans, are so different from each other in terms of our physical and cognitive capabilities and limitations.

Creativity is pushed further in inclusive design – the design of products and systems to include the full extent of human diversity, including people with and without disabilities.

The need for creativity to bridge the divide between engineering and human factors resonates with our engineering students because Michigan Engineering is all about leadership in service, diversity, and inclusion through 21st century science and engineering.”
